These tongs are preferred for handling boxes and crates that must be gripped near the top edge, such as boxes of shallow construction or the lack of strength at other points. The jaws move in on the load with a parallel movement. The leverage is sufficient to set the spurs without crushing.
These tongs have large pressure pad to distribute the clamping load over a large area. The heat treated turned steel spurs are easily replaced when damaged or worn.
