These grabs are for handling coiled material having an open core such as steel and aluminum. This grab only requires a narrow aisle for removal of tong arms enabling coils to be stacked close together and therefore saving valuable floor space.
The grabs operate using Down's standard worm gear box including our manual ratchet brake. This arrangement provides for two forms of braking on the grab to keep it from opening up under load.
The pads on the tong are curved and all parts that may contact the load are smoothly finished to minimize the chance of damaging the load.
