Screw Plate Clamps

Downs' Item# 411

Screw Plate Clamps are used for lifting and positioning steel plates at bending rolls, brakes, shears, drill presses and similar processing operations. They are designed to handle one plate at a time. Placing more than one plate in at one time will result in the clamp not effectively holding the load, which will lead to plate dropping.
They are also extensively used for erecting structural steel, tanks, and performing deck work on ships and other places where a reliable clamp is required. They can be inverted and used as a temporary or semi-permanent hanger for suspending objects from an overhead structure.

Clamps are attached and removed from the plates or other material by using an ordinary wrench. Clamps are properly set when the screw indents into the plate being liftted. When properly set in place on the material, they are not easily displaced by vibration, shocks or bumps incidental to work of this nature.

For satisfactory service, the hardened set screws must be replaced occasionally, as the threads may become damaged or upset and improper clamping action will result.
