Slab Tongs

Downs Slab Tongs are designed for lifting heavy slabs of concrete, stone, plate glass or highly polished metal sheets that must be protected from scratching or marring.

Slab Tongs are frequently used in construction work positioning slabs. The curved pads give proper contact for gripping smooth surfaces and handling a large range of sizes.

The choice of materials for the gripping surfaces of the tongs consists of rubber or hard wood. Semi-automatic latches are standard equipment and serve as an aid in positioning the tongs for picking-up the load. Smaller sizes use a single point pivot arrangement, while the larger sizes use a dual point pivot as shown below.
